A Day of Dual Impact: Youth Development, GenAI Learning, and Community Service

The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers – Hong Kong is pleased to share and recognize a meaningful community initiative by the PMI Hong Kong Student Club, highlighting the positive impact of youth development, technology learning, and elderly service.

On 7 March, the PMI Hong Kong Student Club carried out two impactful initiatives in one day, demonstrating how leadership and social contribution can extend across generations.

Empowering Future Leaders Through GenAI Training

As part of the IGNITE Mentorship Program, PMI Hong Kong Student Club organized an intensive 3-hour GenAI Training Workshop at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The workshop brought together mentors and mentees for learning, idea exchange, and professional upskilling.

Participants gained:

  • hands-on experience with GenAI platforms,
  • practical prompt engineering techniques, and
  • exposure to real-world business applications of artificial intelligence.

This workshop reflected the growing importance of digital capability, innovation, and cross-disciplinary learning for future leaders and young professionals.

Caring for the Community: “Silver Sun” Elderly Care Service

On the same day, student volunteers also co-organized the “Silver Sun” Elderly Care Service in Diamond Hill. The event featured a tea banquet, live performances, and gift bag distribution for senior citizens, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for the elderly in the community.

This meaningful service demonstrated the value of compassion, civic engagement, and social responsibility alongside professional development.

Appreciation

According to PMI Hong Kong Student Club, special thanks were extended to Anthony Tsui, Jacky Ting, and President Aaron Sin for their leadership and coordination of the GenAI workshop, as well as Lawrence Chan, Grace Kwan, and Alban Li for delivering the training and sharing valuable insights.

For the elderly care service, sincere appreciation was also expressed to Wilson Yau and the Lions Club of Hong Kong Admiralty for organizing the initiative and inviting student volunteers to co-organize, as well as Ka Fai Chan, VP of Finance, for leading members in this service effort.
